2 General Description
The NIM-ANTI-COINC is an Anti-coincidence board that reproduces a copy and an inverted copy of the Signal Input when Veto In is logically off. When Veto In is logically on, this reproduction is halted and hence the name veto. This can be used to control input signals to another device whenever it needs to be switched off, by keeping the Veto In logically on. The truth table can be found on table 2. Another use of the device is in making very short pulses. An input long pulse, A, can be duplicated with a Fanout with the second copy, C, delayed with respect to the first copy, B. The delays ∆t1 and ∆t2 can be generated either by cables of different length or via some digital delay stages. The two are then connected to the inputs of the NIM-ANTI-COINC and a short pulse of duration ∆t2 − ∆t1, with the leading edge either aligned with the leading or tailing edge of the input, depending on which signal signal is the veto, and which is the original signal.
