Platform Mounts have a flat, square, adjustable surface for mounting custom optics, prisms, and beamsplitter cubes. A comprehensive offering of platform mounts is presented in this chapter, each type having targeted features for specific purposes. Ultima™ and Classic™ Platforms are ideal for research applications while the Performa™ Platform mounts, with their slim profiles, are designed for industrial applications. Optics can be mounted to a platform mount bydirect adhesive bonding, or by using one of the Mirror Cup adaptors. Prisims can be held with the PT-1C Clamp. Platform

One benefit all platform mounts have over aperture mounts is a space-saving configuration, as they can hold mirrors which are as large as or larger than the actual mount itself. For example, a Ø2 in. round mirror can be mounted to a 2 in. platform mount (using a UPA2 mirror cup adaptor, or bonded with adhesive). The width of this assembly would be about the same size as the optic. In comparison, if a typical 2 in. aperture mount were used, the width of the assembly would span 2.75 in. (a 38% increase in size). All Ultima, Performa, and Miniature Platform mounts can hold mirrors using the UPA series mirror cup adaptors as shown in the diagram below.
