The Model 0901 power supply is intended for use with New Focus photoreceivers and amplifiers, but can also be used for general laboratory applications. Two of the three ±15-V outputs have microconnectors that match the cables supplied with New Focus photoreceivers and amplifiers. The third output has banana jacks for use with other laboratory equipment.
All three outputs are independently current limited to prevent damage. If a load draws current beyond the specified limit, the voltage to that load drops very rapidly, reducing the available power and preventing damage to the power supply and the attached equipment.

We use microconnectors on our optical photoreceivers, amplifiers, and this power supply because of their compact size, and because they are shielded to reduce electrical coupling from external noise sources. Cables are included with New Focus photoreceivers and amplifiers that require external power supply. But please note that several of our photoreceivers offer the option to operate from either a battery or an external power supply. In these cases, the devices ship with the batteries but do not include power cables—please order the cables separately.

We strongly recommend using the Model 0901 power supply with our photoreceivers, amplifiers, and VCSEL sources.

Note: The output microconnector on the Model 0901 Power Supply is a Pico (m8) style. See the accessory cables on the order tab to find the best cable for your application. Please be aware that early generations of the Model 0901 used an older-style microconnector known as “Micro F”. If you own a previous-generation Model 0901 Power Supply with the older style “Micro-F” connector and you are not sure which cable you need, please call us—we’re here to help.
