Pellin Broca prism for wavelength separation or routing beams 90°; UV-grade fused silica, Suprasil 1, or crystal quartz. Deviates a single wavelength by 90° relative to the input beam; other wavelengths deviated more or less.
Pellin Broca prisms function like two dispersing prism halves joined with a right angle prism, and have the unique property that, for one wavelength, light exiting the prism is deviated by exactly 90° relative to the input beam. Other wavelengths are deviated more or less, and orientation of the prism controls whether it is the longer wavelengths or shorter wavelengths that are deviated more. The wavelength that is deviated by exactly 90° changes as the prism is rotated around a certain point on side S1, making this prism ideal for selecting a specific wavelength in beam-separation applications. It is also a convenient for routine routing of light through 90° for a single wavelength.
