High quality, low aberration focusing and collimating lens for UV, high energy laser and performance-critical applications; 185 nm – 2.1 μm. Designed specifically to minimize coma and spherical aberration in focusing and collimating applications, these asymmetric fused silica bi-convex lenses provide the smallest spot size available in a singlet lens. They are precisely polished for high energy and performance-critical applications in the UV through near-infrared, with a large selection of optional AR coatings.


Fused silica bestform lenses are used when exceptional performance from a positive singlet lens is needed.   UV-grade fused silica offers superior transmission in the UV through near-infrared, as well as improved homogeneity, thermal stability, and damage threshold as compared to N-BK7. Optimized for infinite conjugate ratio, these high quality lenses are manufactured with two convex surfaces of different radii so as to minimize coma and spherical aberrations in UV focusing applications, and provide the smallest spot size available in a singlet lens.  High surface quality and surface accuracy ensure best wavefront quality, minimized scattered light and excellent laser damage threshold.  For best performance, the shorter radius of curvature should face the input collimated beam.
