Laser quality, low aberration 1:1 imaging lens for high energy laser and performance-critical applications; 350 nm – 2 μm. Ideal for high performance and high energy finite imaging tasks in the visible and near-infrared, these N-BK7 bi-convex lenses minimize aberrations when used at 1:1 conjugate ratio. They are offered in a wide range of focal lengths and diameters, with a large selection of optional high energy AR coatings.

Laser quality N-BK7 bi-convex lenses are used primarily for finite imaging and relay applications.  N-BK7 is the preferred optical glass for quality optical components in the visible and near infrared, offering excellent transmission, as well as good optical and mechanical properties.   Due to their symmetry, bi-convex lenses are ideal for 1:1 imaging, as spherical aberration is minimized, and transverse aberrations such as coma, distortion, and lateral color cancel out at this unit conjugate ratio.  These lenses also work well for conjugate ratios from approximately 0.2 to 5. Outside of this range, plano-convex lenses are usually more suitable. There are, however, configurations where bi-convex lenses can be preferred, as in focusing applications when a shorter focal length is required, or to build low f/# condensing systems.  Since both surfaces contribute to the power of these symmetric lenses, they have shorter focal lengths than plano-convex lenses of equal diameter and surface radius, allowing more compact designs.  High surface quality and surface accuracy ensure best wavefront quality, minimized scattered light and excellent laser damage threshold.  Contact CVI Laser Optics for custom dimensions, focal lengths and OEM capabilities.
