Low power, high reflectivity broadband metal mirror for infrared and near-infrared; 650 nm – 20 μm. Gold is the preferred metal coating for infrared use. Our gold coatings are protected with a durable dielectric overcoat that does not affect its natural spectral performance. They offer > 95.5% average reflectivity at visible and near-infrared wavelengths, increasing to > 98% for wavelengths up to 20 μm.
Protected gold flat mirrors have excellent reflectivity over the full infrared spectrum, and are only slightly less reflective at near-infrared wavelengths. They utilize our proprietary protected gold coating technology, which combines the natural high spectral performance of gold with the durability of hard dielectrics. Gold has > 98% average reflectivity at infrared wavelengths, but is a much poorer reflector than aluminum at UV and visible wavelengths. A proprietary overcoat increases abrasion resistance with minimal impact to optical properties. Our gold mirror has excellent durability, and can be cleaned regularly using standard organic solvents such as alcohol or acetone. All mirrors are coated on N-BK7 glass, and are precision-polished for low transmitted wavefront distortion, low wedge, and good surface quality. Damage threshold is 0.4 J/cm2 pulsed at 1064 nm, limiting their use in pulsed laser applications. This mirror is well-suited for use with ultrafast Ti:Sapphire lasers, as it imparts minimal pulse distortion.
