Highlights

The Tristar™ laser is an excellent choice for demanding UV laser applications where highly focused spots, precision positioning, and the highest possible throughput are necessary.

With a short 25 ns pulse width, the Tristar UV laser generates the high-intensity peak power necessary for precision scribing applications. For scribing LED substrates, this means cleaner scribe lines, higher throughput, and higher brightness LEDs. The Tristar UV laser’s higher peak power allows the removal of material using short bursts of high energy, thus reducing undesired thermal effects which can overheat the work surface. This translates to higher throughput and less heat-related damage to the individual LED devices. The Tristar UV laser is pumped with a field-replaceable diode. This unique diode module can be easily replaced in the field and last more than double the industry average for other Q-switched lasers.

Model Spatial Mode Average Power Wavelength Repetition Rate (nominal) Pulse Width Peak Power M2
Tristar 355-1 UV Laser TEM00 >1 W at 100 kHz 355 nm 100 kHz <25 ns 0.4 kW <1.2
Tristar 355-3 UV Laser TEM00 >3 W at 50 kHz
>2 W at 90 kHz
355 nm 90 kHz <25 ns 0.9 kW <1.2

Easy to Maintain

The Tristar compact UV laser is designed as a hands-free, OEM and industrial laser system. It is easy to service in the field with user replaceable:

The Tristar design makes routine wear parts easy to change to significantly shorten mean time to repair (MTTR) and increase total system uptime.

Features

In addition to solid reliability, outstanding performance makes Tristar the laser of choice of 355 nm industrial manufacturing applications. Key features include:

Proven Application

Spectra-Physics Q-Switched DPPS lasers have been designed for micromachining applications in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Founded in 1961, Spectra-Physics has shipped thousands of lasers into the key industrial markets where 24/7 system operation and the demand for system uptime makes product reliability a key element in laser selection.

Reliable by Design

Spectra-Physics industrial lasers have a number of unique design features that significantly increase the both laser life and uptime. Our diodes typically last twice the industry average. The lasers’ modular design isolates known wear components and key failure mechanisms into small components (such as diodes, fibers, output window, shutters, and harmonic modules) that are easy to change in the field without costly tool realignment. This lowers service inventory holding costs while shortening Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

Our proprietary optical alignment system (EternAlign™) and rugged laser housing virtually eliminate alignment failures that can occur with vibration and shock during shipping. The sealed laser resonator and unique filtration system (ALPS) significantly extends the life of the laser by keeping the air inside the laser clean, dry, and free of volatile organic compounds from out-gassing.

And finally our automatic data logging software monitors all key laser performance parameters over the life of the laser, providing a powerful service feature and product reliability tool.
