High performance air-spaced laser aplanat for UV and high power use; single wavelengths from 193 – 1064 nm. Designed to produce the minimum focal spot size, these fused silica air-spaced doublets exhibit essentially diffraction limited performances over their full f/5 apertures. They are available with a range of high performance AR coatings for use with very high power monochromatic light at UV through near-infrared wavelengths.

High energy/UV laser aplanats are corrected for spherical aberration and coma at a single wavelength, offering essentially diffraction-limited performance over their full f/5 aperture at UV through near-infrared wavelengths.  The air-spaced design is composed of two UV-grade fused silica lenses polished to ultra-high surface quality with low loss durable antireflection coatings, resulting in very high laser damage threshold.  Applications include nonlinear optics, laser beam expansion and collimation, interferometers, beam handling systems, material ablation and cutting systems, and power fiber optic interfacing.  Aplanats are capable of maintaining image quality throughout the beam path, which is critical in imaging of optical traps.  They are also used widely with fiber lasers in material processing and research due to their ability to generate more tightly focused beams, higher energy at the work surface, sharper images for marking, and finer cuts for micromachining.  These lenses have been optimized for 248 nm, and exhibit the highest laser damage threshold when specified with a narrowband V-coat antireflection coating.  Parts are marked with an arrow on the barrel that points to the collimated light.  LAPQ lenses can be used in combination with their companion APMQ meniscus lens to create a combined system of f/3.3 relative aperture without introducing additional coma or spherical aberration.
